I was so inspired I just had to have a go:

Here it is waiting for the centre circle to be stitched on. Just for a change, I rounded the tops and I think I'll probably use needle turn applique to attach it to the backing.
This plate is quite large - 20" across (or 22" including backing) - so a good sized quilt could be made using 3 blocks across and 4 blocks down.
To cut the segments, I used the full length of the '18o Circle Segment Ruler' I bought from Creative Grids, so each blade was 9" long. The ruler also comes with an acrylic circle template for the centre. Unfortunately, the circle is not big enough for the "sunburst" version of the Dresden Plate.
